Psalm Ch.32

This is the first of 13 Psalms, Psalms of Spiritual instruction

The Justifier is also the hiding place, a guide and a preserver,

in whom the saint is to rejoice.

 I acknowledge my sin unto you, and my iniquity have

I not hid. I Said, I will confess my transgressions to the LORD:

and you forgave the iniquity of my sin .

God’s Blessing of  Justification

We can only know God’s blessing

when we acknowledge our own unworthiness, before a holy and just God. We have to remove “self” off the throne and allow God to have his rightful place in our lives. Self-justification centres upon the “me” “I have the right “is the by-word of this present generation, everything centres on the individual.

In Genesis we are reminded that man was made in the “image and likeness” of God. This image is found chiefly in the fact that man is a personal, rational, and moral being. While God is infinite and man finite, nevertheless man posses the elements of personality similar to those of the divine Person: Thinking, feeling, willing.

That man has a moral nature is further attested in the New Testament  (1Thes 5:23)  That man is made up of  body, soul and spirit.

Romans Ch1:21-23 reminds us –“Because, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful, but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man”

The context of the verse is that God’s wrath against  Man is based not on his faulty reasoning of his own supposed goodness. The divine arraignment of the fallen race is on two counts

Man’s guilty abandonment of God’s glory. And His progressive moral declension

Hence man is under God’s wrath i.e. under the necessary expression of divine displeasure against human sin, because of God’s infinite holiness.

The reason.

man changed the divine glory into idolatry and God gave up to uncleanness.

Man changed the truth of God into a lie resulting in God abandoning him to gross immoralities.

Man forsook the knowledge of God resulting in God abandoning him to a base mind and perverted conduct. What a horrible picture of human depravity.
