Living in the Light of Future Glory -
1 Peter Ch. 1 - Elect Pilgrims and Those who are chosen
Section One - Page 2
We are planted in this relationship a realm of love and power and peace. We were chosen and called in order to wait for Him, and His coming.
Who are chosen - God's Call and Choice
The word “chosen” means “called out ones”, here the word is used as a term for Christians chosen by God for Salvation.
1. We are God’s Elect (Rom 8:33)
2. We are chosen of God, to be holy, and beloved (Col 3:12)
3. We are chosen of God for eternal glory (2Tim 2:10)
Paul in his letter to the Thessalonians Church greets them with the words “In God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ (1Thes 1:1)
Paul, Silas and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace and peace to you.
The Scriptures remind us - “May grace and peace be yours in full measure through your knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
God's divine power has given us everything we need to live a truly religious life through our knowledge of the one who called us to share in his own glory and goodness.
In this way he has given us the very great and precious gifts he promised, so that by means of these gifts you may escape from the destructive lust that is in the world, and may come to share the divine nature. - (2 Pet 1:2)
In Christ is our new position; He is the head of a new Creation, we are bona-fida spiritual beings, our DNA is that of the Godhead ‘father, Son and Holy Spirit”
The Lord Jesus reminds us in John s Gospel
“When that day comes, you will know that I am in my Father and that you are in me, just as I am in you”. (John 14:20)
We are strengthened and our faith is built on the knowledge that our faith is not based on ideals or theories, but based on Christ alone who has made fit to dwell in the heavenlies as Ephesians reminds us Christianity is not a mystical religion, but is based in objective historical revealed truth from God. The deeper and wider that knowledge of the Lord is deeper the grace and peace is multiplied “Where He gives true grace, He gives more grace”
Hebrews reminds us “Let us draw near with sincere heart in full assurance of faith” (Heb 10:22)
We can have that assurance by being confident in the peace we have in our salvation. In peace we have through His sacrifice, but also through His intersessionary work of the Lord’s ministry
Not only have been chosen, but that choice was made long before
we came to knowledge of the Savior.
